Keywords:

This text focuses closely on technical details from the perspective of the history of technology. The sources of technical details are cited in the bibliography provided at the end of the paper. From these records, drawings of ironworks equipment and descriptions of production processes were primarily selected with the aim of providing the most comprehensive understanding possible of the technical capabilities of the time and the practical results that were achieved. The introductory part of the paper’s title, “Křivoklát Iron for the Construction of the Prague–Lány Horse-Drawn Railway,” is intended to remind the reader that all three parts of the ironworks production described belonged to the estates of Křivoklát, Nižbor, and Roztoky. The second part of the title, “for the construction of the Prague–Lány horse-drawn railway,” indicates the time frame, namely the first half of the 19th century. Citations from general literature and archival sources serve to briefly supplement the technical data. During the preparation of the text, special emphasis was placed on searching for traces of ironworks production on old maps and, above all, in the present-day landscape.
