Synopsis

A fundamental textbook on the chemistry and technology of film-forming agents in the context of modern analytical and materials chemistry. The text provides a detailed examination of the mechanisms underlying the formation of continuous films, both through physical drying and chemical cross-linking of polymer systems. The authors emphasize the relationship between the chemical structure of synthetic resins (particularly alkyds, acrylates, and epoxies) and their resulting mechanical and anticorrosive properties. The publication reflects technological trends of the late 1990s, including the development of water-based systems and more environmentally friendly forms of coating materials.
