Synopsis

This book is primarily intended for engineers, designers, and students of technical fields who wish to expand their knowledge of the construction, design, and sizing of shaft-hub connections. The book addresses the issues of construction and sizing for selected methods of shaft-hub connections. The introduction analyzes the loads acting on shaft-hub connections. The first part of the book describes and analyzes shaft-hub connections using form fit. Tight key, equilateral spline, and transverse cylindrical pin connections were selected as examples. The second part provides a detailed treatment of press-fit joints (transverse, longitudinal), including the derivation of the necessary analytical relationships. Each chapter includes numerical analyses using the Finite Element Method (FEM) for the given type of connection, including a comparison of the results of the analytical solution method with the results of the FEM analyses.
