These lecture notes are primarily intended for second-year students at the Faculty of Transportation Sciences at the University of Pardubice. They cover most of the topics prescribed by the curriculum for the third semester of study. The only topic not included in these notes is the basics of numerical mathematics. A particular challenge in compiling the textbook was the fact that a comprehensive approach to each topic would have required much more space, which would have allowed for the development of the necessary mathematical framework while also demonstrating basic application problems directly related to the individual specializations studied at the Faculty of Transportation. On the one hand, the textbook does contain more material than can be fully covered in a single semester; on the other hand, however, I was forced to make certain simplifications in order to be able to explain the relevant topic at all within the limited scope. For this reason, the textbook does not delve deeply into mathematical theory, and, more importantly, it lacks application problems that would illustrate the use of individual mathematical methods.
